This regional facility services the urban, suburban and rural communities of Madison, Wisconsin. The entire project was conceived around an "interactive corridor" as a central organizing space. This corridor contains and connects to Educational Displays, Interactive Exhibits, Donor Recognitions, a Library and a Retail Store. It also provides opportunities for potential adopters to view and interact with the animals.
As an essential goal, this 33,000 SF shelter was designed to function with low operating overhead. It utilizes nearly maintenance-free materials and requires a minimal number of support staff.
