Pet Emergency Treatment Services – Lancaster, PA

Designed to be built in two phases, the 7,000 SF Pet Emergency Treatment Services (PETS) hospital in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, was a joint undertaking by a group of 30 local veterinarians.  The group needed an emergency and critical care facility to serve each of their respective daytime practices.  PETS is located in what was formerly a large auto body repair shop.  The renovation included the addition of a new front façade with copper cladding and clearstory windows over the Waiting Area to admit more natural light.  Designed to provide state-of-the-art health care to more than 350 animals each month (including birds and reptiles), this facility has five exam rooms and a large Central Treatment Area with a glass-enclosed Intensive Care Unit for full-time monitoring of patients.  The hospital is open all night on weekdays, and 24 hours a day on weekends and holidays.
“The facility is unique.  Between the suburbs of Philadelphia and the suburbs of Pittsburgh, there isn’t another clinic like this one.  What the Lancaster General Health Campus did for humans, PETS will be able to do for the areas pet population.  This is a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art facility.”
