The new building for this regional emergency / specialty & referral practice also contains a local general practice. Two round towers, one for each practice, prominently help to guide clients to their intended destinations. These architecturally defined entrances clearly identify each practice as separate and distinct.
This 14,460 SF facility has two separate outpatient Waiting Areas and Exam Rooms, but one shared inpatient Treatment Area. The large Central Treatment Area leads directly into the Surgical Suites and the ICU Area. The ICU Area has a Central Nurses' Station for 24-hour monitoring of every cage and every run.

| "Because our new hospital is located in a flood plane, Warren has taken on the many complex design challenges this project warrants. Warren has been the key person in coordinating the multitude of professionals that have had to work together to get this project through a very difficult approval process with very stringent environmental and design restrictions. Warren and his dedicated staff have always been available whenever needed. The engaging design of the building is an example of Warren's skill as an architect. We feel very fortunate to have Warren and his staff working with us and give him the highest compliments on his professionalism as an architect."

Yet in its simplicity, the 7,200 SF building nevertheless makes a bold statement about the medical services provided within. The Hospital's traffic flow and organization of spaces is one of rfa's finest examples of nearly perfect floor planning.

Soon to become one of the largest emergency and specialty referral hospitals in New England, VESH of MA will provide a broad spectrum of veterinary medical services. From the public's perspective, the 20,930 SF hospital is visually divided into two components, one being an emergency facility and the other being a referral facility.
The exterior design combines the historic Colonial architecture of Deerfield with the modern corporate architecture of South Deerfield. To bridge the gap between a warm, friendly building and the cutting-edge medicine within, the exterior utilizes traditional cedar shingles that clad bold contemporary forms.

| "For the past approximately 1 1/2 years, I have been working with Warren Freedenfeld, of Rauhaus Freedenfeld & Associates, in the design and development of our $27 million dollar, shelter medicine and hospital medicine expansion project. Throughout this experience, I have found Warren to be enthusiastic, responsive, straightforward and detail oriented. He has labored with incredible energy and dedication to see this very complex, difficult project move forward. to the extent that I am qualified to judge his architectural skills and abilities, they seem of the highest quality. Additionally, I have personally found Warren to be cooperative and adaptable. I strongly recommend his firm for any project involving shelter or veterinary hospital medicine"

The Institute of Veterinary Specialists is by far not your ordinary Animal Hospital. The Institute is comprised of two components. One is a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital with an emphasis on cardiology. The other is a Telemedicine Center serving veterinarians throughout the United States. The Center receives questions on complex medical cases, analyzes the data and then advises veterinarians

on how to handle these cases. The circular Waiting Area also functions as a semi-circular lecture hall for professional seminars. The image of a spiral is inlaid into the floor of the Waiting Area and into the exterior stonework of the drum enclosing the upper volume of the Waiting Area. The spiral symbolizes holistic healing.

After years of searching for a site to relocate the Cairo Animal Hospital in Highland Park, Illinois, just northwest of Chicago, Dr. Cairo found an existing building to renovate. The 8,260 SF brick structure was already an attractive building and the design respected its original configuration and composition. To that end, any modifications to the existing masonry openings utilized wood siding in order to maintain the architectural rhythm of the original openings. Dormers were added on the roof to provide added headroom for doctor's offices, a conference room and storage on the second floor.

Park Centre Animal Hospital is located in Northern California on Alameda Island in the San Francisco Bay Area. This new veterinary hospital was designed for Drs. Mary Applegate and Kathy Wydner. It is approximately 5,295 square feet and was designed to replace their 50 year old hospital of approximately 2,000 square feet. The New Park Centre Animal Hospital will operate as a full service veterinary medical center offering medical, surgical, dental, preventative medicine and diagnostics for small mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians.
This new facility’s design is contemporary and was inspired from the craftsman style. The exterior architectural treatment reflects a discriminating use of metal roofing, espaliers, performance glazing, shiplap siding and plasterwork. The warm earth tones on the building and the landscaping used for the site were also selected to complement the surrounding residential area.
