Project Architect
rauhaus freedenfeld & associates (rfa), a dynamic, award winning, mid-sized Boston architectural firm, founded in 1973, is seeking a Project Architect to join our firm and to lead teams in designing national and international projects from design through construction.
Under the direction of the licensed principal the qualified candidate will assess needs of Veterinarian and Animal Care Agencies, review program and site requirements, plan scope of work and scheduling and mobilize design team to fully realize client goals. Qualified candidate will work with clients and consultants and supervise a team of three, from Schematic Design to Construction Documentation, using knowledge of ADA and barrier-free design, state codes, local by-laws and planning regulations and sustainable design principles. Qualified candidate will be responsible for reviewing building code issues, local by-laws and ordinances to assist with managing permitting process, while also organizing submittals according to plan reviews and specification. Experienced candidate will use AutoCAD for design and construction documents, for reviewing drawings for code and detailing issues, for editing and submitting drawings to clients, consultants and regulatory bodies for approval. Experienced candidate will use analytical problem-solving, graphic presentation and communication skills to deliver projects on time and on budget. Qualified candidates will use verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively manage client needs, consultant’s work and progress of drafters and technicians.
Experienced candidate must have a Bachelors Degree in Architecture or foreign equivalent plus five years experience in Design, Construction Documentation and Project Management. Candidate must be eligible for Massachusetts, International License and LEED certification.

Qualified candidates should have over 5 years technical experience, Bachelor of Architecture degree and experience supervising a small team with proven leadership qualities. Ideal candidates will possess excellent organizational, communication and computer skills. Candidates must be detail-oriented, have the ability to prioritize and multi-task, have proven problem solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure. AutoCAD proficiency is a must. Experience with Revit and Sketch-Up is considered a plus.
